Fallen By Erin McCarthy

This is a double murder mystery mixed with paranormal romance between our fallen angel Gabriel and Sara Michaels. You’re introduced to the first murder which happened in 1849. Gabriel had passed out after drinking absinthe and opium in is paid companions, Sara great-great-grandmother Anne. Anne was brutally murdered and Gabriel was charged with the crime. The jury found him not guilty. Fast forward to present day and you have the brutal murder of Sara mother. Both murders happened in the exact same fashion only in Naple, FL. The trial of Rafe, the boyfriend of Sara mother, caught Gabriel attention. He contacted Sara asking her to contribute to a book about both murders and how the investigation resulted in trials of men who were found not guilty of the murder. What he didn’t realize was the Sara was a descendent of Anne and that every generation of the women in her family had been brutally murdered. As the story progress you are introduced to other fallen angles that are condemned and labeled as demons. Some truly live up to their title. Others are just misguided and better. The book ending was predictable and yet not predictable. At one point you feel that the murders are solved and that the characters can go on with life, but then the twist comes. The final redemption is given for all parties affected by the horridness crimes. The thing that is unique about this book is the author’s use of letters, newspaper articles, court documents, and forensic evidence to tell the original murder while still reading the romance story between our primary characters. The author perfected the ability to tell a story in a story without losing interest in either story. I loved the cold rendering of Anne trial and the history around her murder. Over all this book is a unique read. If you love mystery and who done it’s and also tells about demons and angles then this book is for you.

I rate this book:
