Beneath The Thirteen Moons By Kathryne Kennedy

Let me start my review by saying this. WOW! This book was such a pleasant well written surprise. It's a tale of how the desperation of a water-rat can change the stubborn mind set of an arrogant crown prince. The setting of the book takes place on a plant with no apparent land mass, instead giant networks of trees have formed livable area for humans to survive on after a colony ship crashed many many many generations ago. Humans have adapted to the harsh environment and developed mind based powers that trigger with the ingesting of a bitter root. The level of power is dependent on the bloodline, which has created a society were the strongest tolerance of power rules and anyone who can challenge that authority is disposed of. So when Mahri Zin, a rare wildly powerful woman, mistakenly kidnaps the crown prince Korl Com'nder instead of a healer she desperately needed to heal sick family. She triggers a chain reaction of change not just inside her own mind and powers but in the society around her. Like all fairy tales they fight of the evil grasping enemy and struggle to find happy ever after. If you haven't read this tale I suggest you do. The amazingly written tale is a class above. The details and imagination of the sea forest world is breathtaking. The characters are likable and well scripted. The plot flows evenly through the whole book. I defiantly will be hopping for another tale set in the wonderful world Kathryne Kennedy has created.

I give the book:
