Jacob (The Nightwalkers, Book 1) By Jacquelyn Frank

Jacob has spent seven hundred years policing demons that have given in to moon madness and endanger humans. He doesn't have time for anything out side his duty; so when Isabella his destined mate literally drops into his arms his life begins a radical change. Isabella, who is by heart a gentle library, is forced to save Jacobs life by killing a corrupted demon, an act by itself that has never been possible for a human. Knowing that Jacob has to solve the mystery of how she managed such a feet, Jacob knocks Isabella out and carries her home. Once there the temptation to mate with her attracts the attention and intervention of Elijah and then Noah. In the hopes of sorting things out Noah allows Isabella access to the great vault housing all of Demon history. There she discovers that the Demon moon madness is caused by the lack of Druid mates balancing out the demon powers. After unearthing a foretelling about her mating with Jacob, Isabella life truly changes. As she becomes more ingrained with her new Demon friends, her new arising abilities begin causing trouble.

Overall this is one of my favorite books, and as such I am happy to give it a must read rating! If you have never read any of Jacquelyn Frank earlier books in this series, I suggest going back. The characters are well developed, as is the Nightwalker world she created.

Escpecially as she begins to investigate her own case of ethical fraud and death of her mentor. As the two become more and more involved in the investigation, it becomes clear that their off the chart abilities we're not the only thing they have in common in their passionate relationship. This book was originally published in 1996 and recently rereleased with a new cover. The book is a great read. But you can tell that it has extremely similar tones as her other futuristic romance novel series. I was happy to see it rereleased. It's one that sits on my "good reads" shelf and now on in my digital library.

I give it:

By the way did you know that JAYNE ANN KRENTZ (her married name) writes contemporary romantic-suspense, she then uses AMANDA QUICK for her novels of historical romantic-suspense, and finally she uses JAYNE CASTLE (her birth name) for futuristic/paranormal romantic-suspense. Beneath The Thirteen Moons By Kathryne Kennedy

Let me start my review by saying this. WOW! This book was such a pleasant well written surprise. It's a tale of how the desperation of a water-rat can change the stubborn mind set of an arrogant crown prince. The setting of the book takes place on a plant with no apparent land mass, instead giant networks of trees have formed livable area for humans to survive on after a colony ship crashed many many many generations ago. Humans have adapted to the harsh environment and developed mind based powers that trigger with the ingesting of a bitter root. The level of power is dependent on the bloodline, which has created a society were the strongest tolerance of power rules and anyone who can challenge that authority is disposed of. So when Mahri Zin, a rare wildly powerful woman, mistakenly kidnaps the crown prince Korl Com'nder instead of a healer she desperately needed to heal sick family. She triggers a chain reaction of change not just inside her own mind and powers but in the society around her. Like all fairy tales they fight of the evil grasping enemy and struggle to find happy ever after. If you haven't read this tale I suggest you do. The amazingly written tale is a class above. The details and imagination of the sea forest world is breathtaking. The characters are likable and well scripted. The plot flows evenly through the whole book. I defiantly will be hopping for another tale set in the wonderful world Kathryne Kennedy has created.
