Angels’ Blood By Nalini Singh

After reading the Psy-Changeling Series I was excited to see this book. It’s nice to see an author start new series. This one didn’t let me down at all. The book is again set into a different reality of how things would be if angles and vampires walked among humans. Normally you would expect the angles and vampires to be at war, the whole light and darkness theme. Well not in this book. Singh has managed to turn things not just around but upside down. Here Angles control vampires and humans pretty much bow down to both. The head angle of New York is Raphael. He has an issue that none of his angle underlings or vampire servants can fix. So he calls on the local Hunter Guild Boss to supply the best hunter to assist him. Hunters are humans who belong to a guild that polices and collects up vampires that have broken covenant with their angles. They don’t kill but subdue the vampires and return them back for the angles to deal with. But don’t think that the vampires are weak little beings. In fact they live up to modern day legend. They are badass that would kill everything and everyone if the angles didn’t remain in control of them. The hunter who is the best because of her senses is Elena Deveraux. Right from the beginning she attracts Raphael attention and desire. For which most people would have been a greater prize, but for our stubborn self assured heroine is just a problem. The more time she spends fight her own attraction and assisting Raphael the more she become absorbed into the cast and powers angles have. But its only after she witness the results of a truly nasty killer she is tracking does she start to learn to lean on Raphael. And like all great men, Raphael learns to lean on her. His desire turns to love, but in the ultimate battle sacrifices are made. As the city watches on, Elena humanity provides the ultimate power for Raphael to win at a terrible price. But like all classic stories, self sacrifice is always given way to a greater gift. Over all the depth of characters and compelling story hooks me. I truly cannot wait to see what adventure Elena has in the next book.

I rate this Book:
